Many top golfers never stop competing when they put the clubs on the shelf. They line up on the senior tour or continue at some lower level, but Annika Sörenstam has not been able to be attracted back to the track - until now. The Swedish golf legend will now compete with his dad, Tom, in the annual Father and son competition which concludes the senior tour in the US every year.

The competition was decided for the first time in 1995. In 2018 Davis won Love III with son Dru Love. December 7-8, Annika Sörenstam will be the first woman to play when the competition is decided at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in home ground in Orlando, Florida.

Although the competition can be classified a little like a jippo, it is not small potatoes you play. The starting field amounts to about $ 1,085,000 or SEK 10.5 million.

- I've looked at the competition before and you can really see how special it is for all participants. Since my children are a little too young, I am happy to be able to play with dad. We will have fun, says Annika Sörenstam to the LPGA website.

Even without the kids on the track, the competition will be a real family story. Genuine husband, Mike McGee, will act as a caddy while dad Tom Sörenstam gets help carrying the clubs of his second daughter, Charlotta.

Stop time: Annika Sörenstam - first win of her career

Sörenstam competed against the men during his active career. Then she became historical when she performed on the PGA Tour in 2003 at The Colonial in Texas. The Swedish superstar created hysteria within the golf world and everyone's eyes were directed at the Swedish golf legend. No female golfer had played on the men's PGA tour of 58 years.

The Swede is also highly involved in another competition where men meet ladies. In June, Sörenstam will host the new Scandinavian Mixed at Bro Hof.
