Alexandersson had already secured his sixth straight World Cup title, which is second only to Swiss Simone Niggli-Luder.

It was the start that dropped the Swedish star when, at the first interim, she was barely a minute behind. She then climbed a lot in the results list, but finished eighth in the last race of the World Cup season.

Alexandersson was 53 seconds slower than Shuangyan Hao, who won at home. Two came Simona Aebersold and three came 24-year-old Swedish Sara Hagström who took her first podium place in the World Cup.

On the men's side, Gustav Bergman secured the overall World Cup victory as early as Saturday. Today he finished in a modest 52nd place. Best Swedish was Albin Ridefelt who came ten. Won did Belgian Yannick Michiels ahead of Maxime Rauturier and Li Zhuoye.
