Roger Federer conquered for the tenth time in his career the tournament in Basel, in his hometown, by beating the young Australian Alex De Miñaur (28 of the world) by a double 6-2. At 38, Federer already has 103 titles and this season has already raised his arms in Dubai, Miami and Halle. Now he is only six titles from the record held by Jimmy Connors (109).

The Swiss, with 20 Grand Slam titles in his record, has a streak of 24 consecutive victories in his city. He has not lost on that field for five years, when Argentine Juan Martín del Potro defeated him in the final in 2013. "He would never have thought of winning 10 titles in Basel. It is extraordinary," Federer said, before getting excited and shedding some tears.

Basel is the second tournament where Federer has reached the barrier of the ten titles, after Halle, on grass. The Swiss did not give any option to De Miñaur, he broke the service twice in each set and did not allow him any option to break. "I hoped Roger had gotten tired of winning here and that he would leave one option to another," joked the Australian, dominated in just over an hour.

Throughout the tournament Federer has only let out 18 games in four games this week, benefiting from the injury withdrawal of fellow countryman Stan Wawrinka in the quarterfinals. Now he is heading for the 1000 Masters in Paris-Bercy where the draw has given him a semifinal potential against Rafael Nadal.
