The conditions for Gif Sundsvall were simple. If they were to win against Helsingborg today, the risk of direct degradation would have been completely gone, and they would have at worst ended the series in a qualifying spot.

And it looked good for a long time. Apart from the first five minutes, the home team dominated the game completely.

Lindegaard big game

They also created a lot of chances, but Helsingborg goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard showed why he has a background in Manchester United. He was responsible for several high-quality interventions. He saved with both legs and arms and for a long time seemed to keep zero.

Lindegaard's big game seemed to mean that the match would end aimlessly, but in the final minutes of the match it exploded completely.

dream Hit

First, Helsingborg came in a fast counter and a two to one position. Max Svensson played on the right, where Tobias Mikkelsen was. He finished just outside the penalty area, got a dream hit and sent the ball up into the net.

But only three minutes later, Anders Lindegaard finally gave up. Dennis Olsson made a cross from the left flank, and Tobias Eriksson was a few yards in front of goal.

Mikkelsen two-goal shooter

But the joy of the poisons was short-lived. Just a minute later Tobias Mikkelsen came again with the ball, and got a new dream meeting. This time from about 20 meters, past a chanceless David Mitov Nilsson in Sundsvall's goal.

- Our feeling then (after 1–1) is that we should do one more, that's just what's in our heads. It is possible that we lose a little in our defensive position, and that is a good finish for him (Mikkelsen). It's heavy, says Tobias Eriksson to C More.

The final round determines

Sundsvall's loss thus means that Kalmar can secure a new universal contract in a couple of hours. Whether Sundsvall is allowed to qualify or go straight to the Superettan depends on the results later this round and next week. The team is currently in qualifying, one point ahead of AFC Eskilstuna and Falkenberg, who have a match less played. The team meets AIK in the final round.

- We can't control that much over the other teams. But it will live on in the last round, so we have to do everything we can against AIK, says Tobias Eriksson.
