After a year, operational director Michael Kinsbergen is leaving AZ again. The position of the former Ajax director appears to overlap too much with the duties of the other directors.

"We have therefore jointly decided not to go further in this composition," says CEO Robert Eenhoorn on the AZ website on Saturday.

"Michael's input has been very valuable to us and I have discussed the possibility of being able to call on him in the future for certain projects. He has responded positively to that

The sixty-year-old Kinsbergen was appointed at AZ last October, where technical director Max Huiberts works alongside Unicorn. Kinsbergen was general manager at Ajax between November 2012 and the summer of 2015.

In the past, Kinsbergen maintained close ties with Johan Cruijff and helped Ajax to get ahead financially with a few large sponsorship deals. The Amsterdammer won, among other things, Ziggo as the new main sponsor.

Worry about stadium at AZ

At AZ, the AFAS Stadium is currently the main concern of the management. Part of the roof collapsed in August and after investigation it turned out that the construction was not good.

AZ initially decided to replace three-quarters of the roof, but on Tuesday the current number four announced that the roof above the main stand is also unsafe and will be renewed.

It is not yet clear when AZ can play again in the AFAS Stadium. For the time being, the home duels will be finished in the Cars Jeans Stadium of ADO Den Haag.
