After Saturday's 1-1 draw at Manchester United, the Reds are looking forward to Sunday's game against Tottenham Hotspur to make up for more points against a team that regained victory after a series of disappointing domestic and continental games.

The Spurs' 5-0 victory over Red Star Belgrade on Tuesday was an ideal occasion for the coach and his players to regain confidence after a difficult start to the season, largely due to the loss to Liverpool in the Champions League final in Madrid in June.

"It was important to once again regain the feeling of being able to win and deliver the performance we want," said coach Mauricio Pochettino, whose side have won just three wins in 12 different competitions before performing well in their last game against Serbia.

Tottenham are seventh in the Premier League after losing to Brighton & Hove Albion and draw with bottom club Watford in their last two games.

Tottenham are currently 13 points behind Liverpool, who lost 2-0 to Madrid in the final in Madrid, a defeat that affected Pochettino's side at the start of the new season.

"The Champions League final means winning or losing and we have lost," Pochettino said. ".

Although Tottenham have scored against Liverpool since taking over Pochettino in 2014, they have one win in 12 games, but they have proved their ability to keep up with Jurgen Klopp's side at home and at Anfield.

They lost 2-1 there last season despite dominating the second half and drawing 2-2 the previous season.
