After the rental, she said that she did not approve the ban on performing the quad jumps in the short program and therefore she would learn the triple axel, which was allowed by the rules.
“I liked to speak here. Coach Sergey Dudakov tuned, spoke the words that are spoken before each competition. After the rental, he told all the mistakes, we will work on them. I will improve my skating, rotation, I will learn the triple axel, try to do more. Of course, it’s a shame that you can’t insert quadruples into the short program, because when I skated the short ones, I was able to make a quadruple there, and I really want to be able to do quadruples in the short program, ”Trusova told Sport24 .
She also said that she had already stopped worrying about the trick of changing the dress during a short rental, although she was worried about this before.
“Changing the color of the dress is not hard. Before the first start, I was worried, because before that they tried it just a few times. And I was worried - it first opened, then later, and I was very worried. But then everything worked out, ”the skater added.
Evgenia Medvedeva took sixth place after a series of mistakes and a fall on Lutz. She did not communicate with reporters and comment on her speech. Her coach Brian Orser admitted that he was shocked by the result.
“She is very upset, we are both stunned, did not expect this. She tried and trained as never before. Of course, she will ride tomorrow in a free program. It will be a long day for both of us, ”said the TASS coach.
Figure skater choreographer Ilya Averbukh criticized her performance and assured fans that Medvedev was in good physical shape but could not show her maximum in competitions.
“Medvedeva had a very unsuccessful performance. Therefore, it is more offensive that Zhenya is in very good shape. In training, she showed the purest strong rentals, and in competitions - a whole cascade of mistakes. This is all very sad. It's a shame, I want to support her, but the performance was catastrophically weak. As long as she fails to defeat her psychology, these feelings overcome her. The double axel is an unloved jump for Medvedeva, more than once he let her down now too. It is clear that if we release it now on ice, then it will make them ten out of ten, but psychology played a role, ”Averbukh said.

The best of all the Russians on the first day of the competition was a couple of Alexander Boykov - Dmitry Kozlovsky. They took first place with a score of 76.45 points, but immediately made it clear that they did not consider this an achievement, but would tune in to a good arbitrary rental.
“Today's result does not matter, our main day will be tomorrow, so the current points are not so important. The goal of each athlete is to speak cleanly and convey the idea embedded in his program. Figure skating is not only a sport, but also an art, therefore, athletes strive to better combine the technical aspect with the second assessment, which consists of different components, ”said Kozlovsky.
The third in pair skating were Evgenia Tarasova and Vladimir Morozov. However, they were not upset because of such a result, which led to the only mistake partner on the jump.
