The two SHL teams each acquired a success goalie from the hockey general Swan for this season.

The Angel Team picked Christoffer Rifalk from Oskarshamn after he played the small national team for the highest series this spring.

For their part, the Gävlel team brought home Samuel Ersson, who was one of the heaviest factors behind Västerås success in the second highest series last winter.

But life in SHL has changed a lot for the young goalkeepers.

Lost goal

The 23-year-old Rifalk has made great success in the top team Rögle and came to the match against Brynäs with five wins out of five possible, one after extension and one on penalties. He also had the lowest average of the series over scored goals, a fine 1.16.

The three-year-old Samuel Ersson has had a much heavier fall in the bottom team Brynäs.

Before Thursday, he had played four games from the start, lost all and had been replaced already after ten minutes in one of them. Add a heavy 4.16 in average over the goals scored.

Of the different worlds, however, nothing was noticed in the match on Thursday night.

Both goalkeepers held zero in the first period, where Rögle certainly had a puck in goal but got that goal dismissed when Rögleforward Adam Edström was judged to have deliberately hit the puck with his hand.

And there were only two goals during regular playing time.

Danced on the finish line

The first from Brynäs halfway into the second period after a fine collaboration between Greg Scott and Daniel Mannberg deep down in the castle in front of Christoffer Rifalk.

A fitting collaboration that ended with Mannberg directing his fourth SHL goal this fall.

Rögle responded at the end of the same period with a receipt from Simon Ryfors who fled from the right and forced a puck behind Samuel Ersson who made his best effort for the season.

But the Brynäs goalkeeper was a bit lucky too.

Shortly before the receipt, Rögleforward Leon Bristedt was about to lift his arms in a goal cheer as the puck slid towards the finish line, but the cheer came off when Brynäsbacken Eric Norin reached and whipped away the puck that danced on the finish line behind Ersson.

In the third period, the Brynäskeeper was also close to steering a high flying puck that with only a millimeter margin now went in the frame and out.

Late crucial

On the other hand, Rögles Christoffer Rifalk was also close to waving a puck at a rescue at the end of the third period which became speechless.

Instead, the decision came with 45 seconds left of the extension.

Brynäs forward Greg Scott tackled the puck from Kodie Curran, the chain mate and team captain Anton Rödin brought it over the ice and was chilly when he came down alone against Rifalk and fined the Röglemål guard to the left, then finished sending the victory puck to the right.
