Many people probably raised their eyebrows when Malmö's starting elf against Lugano was presented. Team captain Rosenberg and striker Marcus Antonsson were found on the bench together with back pair Rasmus Bengtsson and Behrang Safari. But that would prove to be a genocide.

After only twelve minutes, Berget thumped 1-0 from the penalty spot after Eric Larsson fell into the penalty area. A dream start for Malmö, who was in great need of points for the hope of the playoffs to live on.

And when Guillermo Molins pitched Sören Riek's post to 2-0, the hope really woke up.

Gerndt scored on the previous rival

The second half started just the opposite. Lugano increased the pace and in the fifteenth minute it sent former Helsingborg player Alexander Gerndt his first goal of the season.

If the first half belonged to Malmö, the situation was the opposite in the second. Lugano's early goals gave the guests energy and the Malmö defense had to work hard. But the halves were not exactly identical, Lugano did not score any other goals and Malmö thus took three important points.
