After 25 minutes, Jaroslav Rakytskyj made a complete fool of himself when he presented the ball to the feet of Peter Gulacsi who smashed it into the open goal.

Only five minutes into the second half, Leipzig responded when outside winger Marcel Sabitzer got the ball right in the penalty area and thumped the receipt. Shortly thereafter, Zenit's attack star Artjom Dzjuba got a good position to give the Russians the lead again, but he pulled the ball over.

Instead, it was the home team that took the lead when Sabitzer pulled on half volley and the ball deliciously screwed into the far cross.

The home team then had several good chances to puncture the meat, but it ended 2-1. The victory allows Leipzig to step up in the lead in the group, but Lyon can go on to win against Benfica later on Wednesday night.
