Feyenoord has to face Thursday in the Europa League match against Young Boys without Nicolai Jørgensen and Rick Karsdorp. The striker and the defender are not fit enough to meet in Bern, Switzerland.
The 24-year-old Karsdorp has sustained an injury to the home game with Heracles Almelo last Sunday (1-1). It is not known which injury the right back is struggling with, but the game against Young Boys is too early.
Jørgensen played an entire game against Heracles for the first time, after being out of circulation for months due to a knee injury. Trainer Jaap Stam does not seem to want to take any risks with the Danish striker and therefore leaves him at home, just like Karsdorp.
Ridgeciano Haps is also said to have a slight injury, but the left back is in the twenty-strong selection of Feyenoord that travels to Bern on Tuesday. The same goes for defender George Johnston, who came over from Liverpool last summer and played less than a minute for the Rotterdam-squad.
Feyenoord in the lead in group G
Feyenoord is going through a disappointing season in the Eredivisie for the time being - Stam's team occupies tenth place - but in the Europa League the fifteen-time national champion is in better shape.
After a narrow defeat at Rangers (1-0) and a nice victory over FC Porto (2-0), Feyenoord leads the group G with three points. Young Boys, Rangers and FC Porto also all have three points, but a less good goal balance.
The match between Feyenoord and Young Boys starts on Thursday at 6.55 pm and is led by Danish referee Jakob Kehlet.
