Team leader Arthur van Dongen, just like Tom Dumoulin, makes the switch to Jumbo-Visma. The 51-year-old coach has been active for Team Sunweb for the past four years.
"It is nice to make the switch to Team Jumbo-Visma," says Van Dongen on the Jumbo-Visma website on Tuesday. "I am happy with it and I am looking forward to it."
"At Team Sunweb I was able to make the step to professional riders and I could have done well, but I get a good chance at Team Jumbo-Visma and look forward to taking it."
According to Jumbo-Visma, the arrival of Van Dongen is separate from the transition from Dumoulin. De Limburger signed a three-year contract with the Dutch cycling team in August.
Van Dongen previously worked together with Groenewegen, among others
Van Dongen meets many old acquaintances at Jumbo-Visma. For example, Dongenaar, who previously worked for Rabobank's training team, previously worked with team leaders Grischa Niermann, Sierk-Jan de Haan and Mathieu Heijboer.
Besides Dumoulin, he also had several riders who will play for Jumbo-Visma next season, including Timo Roosen, Bert-Jan Lindeman, Mike Teunissen, Lennard Hofstede and Antwan Tolhoek.
In 2014, Van Dongen was the coach of Dylan Groenewegen when the Amsterdammer won the Tour of Flanders for promises. Groenewegen, who with 15 wins is the most successful rider in 2019, extended his contract with Jumbo-Visma Monday through 2023.
