Chelsea manager Frank Lampard cannot have midfielders N'Golo Kanté and Ross Barkley in the Champions League match with Ajax on Wednesday. Nevertheless, he relies on a good result in the Johan Cruijff ArenA.

Both Kanté (groin injury) and Barkley (ankle injury) missed the last training session before leaving for Amsterdam on Tuesday. It was previously known that defender Andreas Christensen and midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek are not available.

Despite the absence of a number of players, manager Lampard believes that his team is ready for the confrontation with Ajax. The former top midfielder is very impressed by the people of Amsterdam.

"We are confident and hopefully ready. What Ajax has done with a young team last season is incredible. The team has changed a bit, but is still very dangerous," he said during his press talk.

"I also believe in young players myself. People say that at Chelsea I choose youth because I have few options, but that's not right. I consciously chose these players."

Chelsea has a good series in the direction of the match against Ajax, because the 'Blues' have already won five times in a row. On Saturday, Newcastle United was beaten 1-0 at Stamford Bridge by a goal from left back Marcos Alonso.

"Still, I don't think those five wins say anything about tomorrow's game," said Lampard. "I just hope it adds some confidence. Furthermore, it is a completely different challenge."

Ajax-Chelsea starts on Wednesday at 6.55 p.m. The team of coach Erik ten Hag won the first two duels in group H, while the formation of Lampard won once and lost once.
