Fernando Gaviria has booked his second stage victory in the Tour of Guangxi on Monday. The Colombian proved to be the strongest in the sprint in the fifth and penultimate stage of more than 212 kilometers.
Gaviria was the German Pascal Ackermann and the Italian Matteo Trentin in the Chinese finishing place Guilin. The UAE-Team Emirates rider also won the first stage of the WorldTour race last Thursday.
For Gaviria it is his sixth victory of the season. The sprinter won this year - in addition to his two daily victories of this race - a stage in the Giro d'Italia, two stages in the Tour of San Juan and one stage in the Tour of the United Arab Emirates.
Timo Roosen finished second in the fifth stage and was the best Dutchman. His teammate Antwan Tolhoek at Jumbo-Visma is still the best Dutchman in fourth place with the overall ranking.
Tolhoek is 22 seconds from the Spanish classification leader Enric Mas from Deceuninck-Quick-Step, who is also closely followed by Colombian Daniel Felipe Martínez (+5 seconds) and Italian Diego Rosa (+14 seconds).
The Tour of Guangxi started on Thursday and ends on Tuesday with a mountain stage. The last WorldTour race of the year was won by Italian Gianni Moscon last year.
