Peter Bosz is convinced that the Champions League adventure of Bayer Leverkusen will be nearly over on Tuesday when Atlético Madrid is lost. The Dutch coach hopes for a surprise in Spain.

"It may be clear that we had a bad start. We simply need points," Bosz said on his press talk on Monday evening. Leverkusen lost in the first group matches against Lokomotiv Moscow (1-2) and Juventus (3-0).

"We were not allowed to lose at home against Lokomotiv Moscow, but we did. It was better against Juventus, but then we also lost. So we really have to get the points."

According to Bosz, the scenario comes true that he predicted before the start of the Champions League start. "I said that we had to grab points against clubs that nobody expected. It didn't work against Juventus, so it has to happen against Atlético now."

Summary Juventus-Bayer Leverkusen (3-0)

"Simeone is a phenomenon"

55-year-old Bosz is aware that with Leverkusen he is facing a tough job against Atlético, the current number five in Spain.

"Atlético has a very strong team and also a very good trainer. Diego Simeone has been committed to the club in an impressive way for years. He is a phenomenon."

Leverkusen had a bad run-up to the important Champions League match, as Eintracht Frankfurt lost 3-0 on Friday. The Bosz team is ninth in the Bundesliga.

Atlético Madrid-Bayer Leverkusen starts Tuesday at 6.55 p.m. The kick-off at Juventus-Lokomotiv Moscow, the other match in group H, is at 9 p.m.
