Two rounds of the Russian football championship will be dedicated to the memory of Lev Yashin

The Russian Premier League (RPL) announced that the 13th and 14th rounds of the championship will be dedicated to the memory of the legendary Soviet goalkeeper Lev Yashin.



According to the press service of the league, this is dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the celebrated athlete.

The matches of the 13th round will be held from October 18 to October 20, and on the 14th - from October 25 to 27.

During his career, Yashin, the only goalkeeper in history awarded the Golden Ball, became the Olympic champion and won the European Championship in the USSR national team. His best result at the World Cup was fourth in the 1966 tournament, which took place in England.

It was previously reported that France Football instituted an award to the best goalkeeper named after Lev Yashin.
