On November 3, François Gabart will start the first edition of Brest Atlantiques. A half-world tour that will take the skippers off Rio de Janeiro, then near Cape Town, South Africa, before joining Brest. At 36, the sailor is eager to try a new race, he that the sports newspaper The Team designates as the worthy successor of the great Bernard Moitessier and Éric Tabarly. In a few years, François Gabart has become the face of French navigation. "I do my job, sailing races, and I try to do it as well as possible," says the skipper. "When I started racing offshore, I had it deep inside me and I did not realize that by doing that, there were a lot of people who are experiencing emotions with us, vibrating with you, "says the browser. François Gabart welcomes with great pleasure the presence of public at the start of his races. A source of motivation for him. "I'm really happy that when we do our shopping, it is not in total indifference and that it serves some people indirectly," he says. "Like artists, we do not feed people, we do not care for them," says the skipper, "but ocean racing has a place in our society."
