The President of the Bulgarian Football Federation, Borisslaw Mikhailov, resigned after racist incidents in the European Championship qualifier against England. Mikhailov has submitted his resignation, on Friday he will be presented to the members of the Executive Committee, said the Football Association. Previously, Bulgarian Prime Minister Boiko Borisov had demanded Mikhailov's resignation.
In the 6-0 victory of the Englishmen on Monday evening in Sofia the first half had been interrupted twice. The Bulgarian fans had again expressed racist and showed the Hitler salute. The game was about to be demolished.
Mikhailov had initially rejected the resignation claim. Then Minister of Sport Krassen Kralew said that until the resignation of Mikhailov, the government wanted to suspend relations with the Football Association - the financial benefits should be set.
