Israel Adesanya dethroned Sunday October 6, Robert Whittaker at UFC 243 in Australia. The New Zealand naturalized Nigerian middleweight has become the undisputed champion by delivering a demonstration to grab the title of king of the category. A perfect fight that places him more than ever among the most impressive fighters on the planet MMA.

First-rate performance by Israel Adesanya this Sunday, Oct. 6 in Melbourne, Australia, in the main UFC 243 bout. The New Zealand naturalized Nigerian fighter took on the show against middleweight champion Robert Whittaker. Already holding the championship belt ad interim since last April , Adesanya has become the undisputed world champion.

Terrible counterattack and impressive knockout

For this fight that was expected for months, Israel Adesanya has lived up to expectations. The 30-year-old native of Lagos ignited the Marvel Stadium and the 60,000 spectators with an entry into the arena with great pomp and a splendid performance in the octagon.

Robert Whittaker, well supported in front of his audience, dominated the first moments of the fight, the time for his opponent to take the pace. "StyleBender" first played feet before carrying a very effective salvo on the gong sounding the end of the first round. With two direct straight to the face, Israel Adesanya, very precise in his strikes, sent the champion to the ground. Shaken, Whittaker was able to return to his corner this time.

The Australian did not, however, see the end of the second round. Adesanya did not give him the opportunity. Whittaker's attempt at revolt was methodically stifled. And after 3'33 in the second round, Adesanya conceded a right to better counter Whittaker violently from a right-left and return it to the ground. The referee Marc Goddard had to intervene to save the now defeated champion. Israel Adesanya, boss, wins brilliantly by knockout.

" Haha! Some said I was too skinny! "

The native Nigerian is now the undisputed boss of the category. His record in the MMA speaks for him: he now has 18 wins (14 by KO, 4 per decision) in as many fights, including 11 in the UFC.

As a good showman, Israel Adesanya assured the microphone, after his victory and after prostrating himself in front of his parents: " I remember everything, like an elephant. As I said, before I was in the stands (as a fan, ed), and now, I bleed nose (play word in English between "nosebleeds" and "nose bleed", note). Whittaker did everything we expected. We had everything on his plan A, plan B, plan C ... We had everything up to plan Z. It's really unreal. Some said I did not have the power to inflict knockouts. Haha! They said I was too skinny! "

Nigerians Israel Adesanya and Kamaru Usman (welterweight) are the current two African UFC champions. The latter did not fail to congratulate him on social networks. The Cameroonian Francis Ngannou also went on his praise: " The best average weight ever seen is Israel Adesanya, without discussion. Congratulations my brother! "

From now on, the next big fight expected of the champion should be against the Brazilian Paulo Costa, his most serious challenger with his 13 wins (11 by knockout, 1 by submission, 1 by decision) and no defeat. He was in the stands of the Whittaker-Adesanya fight. He was able to gauge with his own eyes the challenge that may lie ahead.
