Primoz Roglic won the Italian one-day race Giro dell'Emilia on Saturday. The Jumbo-Visma rider arrived in San Luca solo after 207.4 hilly kilometers.
The Education First duo Michael Woods and Sergio Higuita finished 15 seconds from Roglic in second and third place.
Bauke Mollema was the best Dutchman in fourth place. Like the number five, Alejandro Valverde admitted seventeen seconds to the winner. With Diego Ulissi (sixth), Pierre Latour (seventh), Jakob Fuglsang (eighth), Egan Bernal (ninth) and Gianluca Brambilla (tenth), it was a top ten full of big names in semi-classic.
For 29-year-old Roglic it was already his twelfth victory of 2019. The Slovenian, who did not finish the road race at the World Cup last week, won this year the Vuelta a España, the Tour of the United Arab Emirates, Tirreno-Adriatico and the Tour de Romandie. Jumbo-Visma has 48 victories.
The Giro dell'Emilia is one of the Italian preparation competitions for the Tour of Lombardy. The last classic of the cycling year is scheduled for Saturday next week.
