Arsenal's "crisis" in Arsenal seems to be continuing and there are no signs of a happy ending for the former Germany player.

Spain's Arsenal coach Unai Emery made tough comments against Ozil and was quoted by German newspaper Kicker as saying Ozil "is no longer fit" even to play for the reserve team or even be on the bench.

The comments are the strongest blow to the 31-year-old German playmaker.

Emery Ozil was sidelined for the second time in a row in the Europa League on Thursday when the Gunners thrashed Standard Liege 4-0 in Group F.

Asked about Ozil after the match, Emery said: "When I decide to keep him out of the squad, it's because I think the others have a right to play." A solution? "He has to work on himself" to improve his level.

The coaching staff are scheduled to hold a training session on Friday for players who did not play in the Liege match, the coach said, alluding to the next game on Sunday against Bournemouth in the league. However, Ozil is very unlikely to be part of the match.

The coach's equation, regardless of its nature, poses major challenges for Arsenal's management. Ozil is the most expensive player and his contract runs until 2021, which means that keeping him on the bench means a heavy financial loss for the London club.

The German's status with Arsenal has also reduced his marketing value to 25 million euros after Arsenal paid Real Madrid 40 million euros in 2013 for his services.

At the moment, there is no way for Ozil to prove his heights on the pitch, especially as young Arsenal talents are headed by 18-year-old Brazilian Gabriel Martinelli, who took the lead against Liege in the 14th and 16th minute. His teammates, Joseph Willock and Daniel Sebaius, added the third and fourth goals in the 22nd and 57th minute.
