Ruud Vormer may have to miss several Champions League matches. UEFA started an investigation on Thursday into the behavior of the Club Brugge captain after his red card against Real Madrid.

Vormer received his second yellow card on Tuesday in the final phase of the game at Estadio Santiago Bernabéu after a foul on Vinícius and would have been verbally against Bulgarian referee Georgi Kabakov.

His two yellow cards (and therefore red) give Vormer at least one game suspension. UEFA will determine whether the suspension will be extended on Thursday 17 October.

Club Brugge was halfway surprisingly in Madrid on a 0-2 lead by two hits from striker Emmanuel Dennis. Early in the second half, Sergio Ramos signed for the connection goal.

From the free kick that followed Vormer's foul, Casemiro brought the equalizer on behalf of Real, which also came close to winning. However, it remained 2-2.

Bruges played 0-0 in the first match in group A against Galatasaray. In the next round, which Vormer misses, the Belgian top club will play at home against Paris Saint-Germain on October 22.
