22-year-old Martin died after a crash with his mountain bike on a bike trail in the hometown of Squamish near Vancouver, Canada. The talent had just entered the World Cup context after the JVM gold 2018 when the accident occurred.

Martin's best result was sixth place in Innichen. The Swede met her in competition a few times.
