Manchester United continued their fluctuating results this season at the local and continental levels, after falling in a goalless draw with Alkmaar Netherlands on Thursday evening in the second round of Group 12 matches of the European Champions League.

Arsenal continued their perfect start to their second consecutive victory after beating visiting Standard de Liege 4-0 to cement their lead in Group F, which also saw Eintracht Frankfurt beat hosts Vitoria Guimaraes 1-0.
