Specialist of the 400 meters, obliged to descend on 200 meters because of the new regulations of the IAAF on hyperandrogenism, the Nigerian athlete Aminatou Seyni will be this Tuesday October 1st in the semifinal of the 200 m. A sacred revenge.

Obviously, Aminatou Seyni did not intend to give up. Specialist of the 400 meters, but obliged to descend on 200 meters because of the new rules of the IAAF on the hyperandrogenism , the Nigerian athlete caused a sensation on Monday 30 September in the series by qualifying for the semifinal with a time 22 seconds 58, sixth fastest time series and national record of Niger. At the same time, she improved her personal best time of 22''89.

Since May 8th, an IAAF regulation requires some athletes with a difference in sexual development (DSD) to undergo a treatment to lower their testosterone levels, in order to compete on distances from 400 m to the mile ( 1,609 m). The IAAF believes that these athletes have a physiological advantage " unfair " over others.

Aminatou Seyni humiliated in Niamey

If Aminatou Seyni was not able to line up on the lap in Doha, it is now in full light when she could have moping because of her hyperandrogenism. It must be said that it did not ease his life. Four years ago in Niamey, during a meeting, under the pressure of her opponents, the organizers took her to a house in the neighborhood of Fayçal, to check that she was a girl. A humiliation that did not stop this 22-year-old girl from continuing to believe in her and to put on the spikes to continue living her dream of athlete by training in France alongside the Beninese Noelie Yarigo, a specialist in 800 m.

For Aminatou Seynia has the answer as Noelie Yarigo told RFI: " Frankly I'm happy for her. It's like a little sister for me. The first time I met her, I asked her if she wanted to come to France (Running 41) because I saw she had potential. I had participated in a 400m with her and I understood that she could run fast. I cross my fingers to go as far as possible at these Worlds. By next year, it will do even better on the 200 m. She will have to work her departure. But she is strong .

Aminatou Seyni had failed five hundredths of a medal at the finish of the 200m final of the last African Games held in Rabat, Morocco. She was coming out of a malaria crisis that prevented her from getting properly prepared.

" I am happy to be qualified for the semi-finals (which will take place this Tuesday), I will do everything to qualify for the final. It's been three months that I prepare this race, it was not easy. I gave pleasure to my country, "now loose the one who has rallied all his opponents to win his series despite a bad start.

IAAF sued by Caster Semenya

Controversial, the rule of the IAAF was attacked by the double Olympic champion of 800 m, Caster Semenya , who refuses to take medicine and can not defend his world title in Doha.

In 2009 in Berlin at the Worlds, the South African won her first title in 800 m. A few hours earlier, the IAAF had passed a test of femininity and Semenya had not appeared before the press after his victory. The IAAF clearly did not want journalists to ask him questions about hyperandrogenism. Ten years later, despite the regulation established by the supreme body of world athletics, the debate is still not closed.

" I'm obliged to do that, it's the new regulation, it's unfair, but it's still okay. I was banned, but soon I will be stronger, "says Aminatou Seyni who despite his timidity intends to mark his mark the 2019 edition of the World Athletics by putting his name on the medal board.
