Russian Mariya Lasitskene, on the other hand, made a solid showing in the high jump final and was flawless over 2.04. The 26-year-old tried to set a personal record but when the bar reached 2.08, just a centimeter from the world record, she tore in all three attempts.

Two came the young Ukrainian Yaroslava Mahuchikh who looked to go out at two meters. But the 18-year-old eventually managed to reach the height of her last attempt and when she then managed to fly both 2.02 and 2.04 meters was her silver medal. Mahuchikh also set a new junior world record.
