- This is not the first time Nigeria's covenant has done such a thing. But this is not a national championship, people here take a hard time at the rules and our union tries time and time again to push the rules. It is wrong and it is incompetent. I feel like they are throwing away my World Cup and I don't know how many more I will be able to do, I am 30 years old, says Okagbare to the AP.

Okagbare is a big profile on the Diamond League crowds and competes in 100, 200 and long jumps where she holds world class. Divine Oduduru made his breakthrough in April when in a college race he ran 100 and 200 meters at 9.94 and 19.76 within 45 minutes.

Protest is speedy

Oduduru is split world wide this year with 9.86 and did not show up to the 100 m trial where he was registered, just like Okagbare in the women's 100 meters.

The IAAF rules state that if a practitioner, without reasonable cause, nobles a branch to which they are registered after a specific deadline, they will be disqualified for the rest of the championship. This is what now stops Oduduru and Okagbare at 200 meters and the short baton, 4x100 meters.

Okagbare says she and Oduduru had no plans to run 100 meters.

They must now hope that the protest that is to be submitted will be dealt with quickly. The men's 200 meter trial is already decided on 19.05 on Sunday evening. The women's attempt at 200 meters will be decided tomorrow.
