Daniel Ståhl threw the furthest from everyone in the qualifier and won clearly at 67.88 meters. But there were disturbing moments before the qualification, and not just for Ståhl. The Swede along with several other throwers did not get their discus approved - despite having competed with them several times earlier in the year.

- I think it is about a chief judge there who has been extraordinarily careful on all sorts of things because there were several others who did not get into their discussions, said Ståhl's coach Vésteinn Hafsteinsson, who was surprised when it happened.

"There is something here that is not right," he continued.

Waiting for answer

Ståhl chose another discus from the box that is always included in training, no favorite, but one that obviously can at least sail far enough to win a qualifier.

However, why the favorite discussion was not approved was long unclear and Sweden submitted a question to the organizer asking for a "second opinion" about the decision.

And now comes the message:

Daniel Ståhl's speech remains unsuccessful, which Aftonbladet was the first to report.

“Continued rejection for all countries. None of the discus- sions that were not approved for qualifying can be used in the finals, ”writes the athletics association's press officer Hillevi Thor in a statement.

"Was annoyed"

In a text message to Aftonbladet, team leader Mikael Norman writes that Ståhl's discus has failed because there is damage to the ring.

Coach Vésteinn Hafsteinsson previously told TT that "it is under control" regardless of what discus Ståhl throws with.

TT: Is Daniel disturbed by this?

- No not now. Just when he found out, he became a little annoyed, but then you put it behind me because I have a philosophy in my group that we should not let any outside stuff disturb us - we should like the situation, do our best and move on, said Hafsteinsson.
