The Bahrain-Merida team announced this Sunday the termination of the contract of the Australian runner Rohan Dennis , proclaimed Wednesday for the second time world time trial champion .
" The team ended Mr. Dennis' contract on September 13. This rescission was not made public to allow Mr. Dennis to prepare without distractions for the World Cups," said Bahrain-Merida.
" Mr. Dennis forwarded the termination to the UCI arbitration council (International Cycling Union). In that context, no other comment will be made at the moment," he added in an official statement.
In July, the Australian runner left the Tour de France without apparent explanation in the 12th stage , on the eve of a time trial in which he was one of the favorites. Since then he did not compete again until the World Cup time trial, which he conquered with a different bike than his team.
Professional since 2013 , the former holder of the hour record is 29 years old. After four and a half campaigns at the BMC, disappeared at the end of last season, he joined Bahrain in early 2019.
