The heat in Doha has been a snack for the Athletics World Cup. During the women's marathon last night, 28 of 60 runners interrupted. One of those who had to cancel the race was the Swedish Cecilia Norrbom, who was taken away in a wheelchair and forced to seek medical attention.

The friend and colleague Charlotta Fougberg finished the race and became the best Swedish in an 18th place. When Fougberg learns that Cecilia Norrbom was forced to quit and seek medical attention, she becomes emotional.

- It's really boring. Me, Johanna and Cissi have worked well together. It is very sad to hear that she did not finish and that she did not feel well, says Fougberg to SVT Sport.

- You try to turn off the heat in the meantime. Everyone out there is colleagues and my friends. None of us want anyone to collapse. It's sad to be so. Today it was just to get to the finish

Does it make sense to compete in these conditions?

- No, it doesn't make sense. not when so many collapse.

- It is not humane to run under such conditions. It's tough to run a mara as it is. I don't really understand why we should run a mara. All aircon runners. If they solve that, they could solve it for us. Or sat the maran in another country.

Soothing message from Norrbom

After the race, Norrbom was able to give soothing news.

- Now it's totally okay, now I've recovered. I don't know what to say. No one will understand who was not here and ran himself.

What do you remember about the event?

- It sure looked worse than it was. I couldn't bear to keep my body up. The knees began to shake, trying to take me forward, in the end it could not. I was not unconscious, I was just completely exhausted.

Were you scared?

- Not scared scared, but it was uncomfortable. I felt more that it was not possible. I did everything I could.

Would the competition have been conducted?

- This is how I say no afterwards. I will never run in this climate. It was too tough today. The external factors do not reflect the physical form.

- I didn't see so many collapsing during the race, but when I entered the sick tent, all the British were full and people were shaking. There came one, I think she was Canadian, she looked almost dead. She was unconscious and had a drip It looked awful.
