Nils Eekhoff won the world title among the promises in the British Yorkshire on Friday. The Dutchman was the strongest in the sprint of a small group.

21-year-old Eekhoff, who plays for Team Sunweb, was ahead of Italian Samuele Battistella (second) and Swiss Stefan Bissegger (third).

Eekhoff is the first Dutchman to grab the world title by the promises.

Pascal Eenkhoorn was the second Dutchman in the top ten. He won the second group sprint in 38 seconds and finished eighth.
