Luleå started the fastest and got a penalty already after three and a half minutes. Jack Connolly cheated down Jacob Johansson, but the forward put the puck outside. But Luleå would still take the lead after Petter Emanuelsson sent in the puck with the home team's first shot on goal.

Almost two minutes later, the north bottoms expanded when Jonas Berglund whipped in a return on tennis. Joe Whitney drew straight and reduced in powerplay, but Arttu Ilomäki scored his first SHL goal, up to 3-1 before the period was over.

After half the game, Fredrik Styrman stepped the lead to 4-1 after he pushed on from the blue line. The goal was the last of the match and means that Linköping is still without victory during regular season this season.
