Yolanda Ngarambe has been relatively anonymous to the Swedish athlete, until quite recently.
For this year, the medium and long distance runners made their first international championship. However, there was no success at the European Championships in Glasgow.

But after that, the results have gotten even better. This summer, she personally broke the 1500-meter record during a competition in Poland. In addition, the time 4.05.18 was clearly below the World Cup qualifying limit 4.06.50.

Now Ngarambe goes to Doha to run 1500 meters for Sweden.

- Now the World Cup qualification limit feels like something normal to me. It was just a matter of time to get to this level. Many want to call me lazy bloomer. But I do not think that is the best description in that it takes time to develop in running. Many quit before reaching their breakthrough. I am 28 years old and you have to spend 10,000 hours to be the best at something. My development is normal, Ngarambe tells SVT Sport.

No stated goal

Although Ngarambe took the time for the World Cup qualifying limit just a month ago, she has no stated goal at the World Cup.

- I haven't talked much about it, because I haven't been to any World Cup before. I take the first race first and then the second.

The other? This means that you move on from the trials.

- Lol. Yes, maybe, says Ngarambe.

Warning for heat stroke in Doha

Doha, located on the Persian Gulf, can be reached by temperatures of up to 40 degrees during the World Cup days. The extreme heat does not scare Ngarambe.

- I train in Italy before the World Cup, then my club is in Atlanta and there it is warm. So I'm used to it. The marathon runners have the most problems with these temperatures. It will be tough for them, says Ngarambe.

Time - not the deciding factor

Ngarambe is thus prepared to perform despite the extreme temperatures in Doha. She is also confident that time is in her body to perform, even if that time is not crucial to the championship, says Ngarambe.

- Being the best at the World Cup is not linked to the best time all the way. To be the best is to be able to handle the tactics and all the impressions that come with the World Cup, Ngarambe concludes.
