Mahindra already has the new generation of its pick up for sale in Spain, the Goa that now goes by to be called Plus to imply that it goes a little beyond the model that it first introduced in our country in 2006. As then it is oriented Mainly to the professional client for its great off-road capacity, a bomb-proof robustness, the load capacity and an almost unbeatable price: 15,300 euros (without VAT) in the case of the most affordable version.

Its arrival coincides with a product offer that also brings substantial improvements in the small urban SUV KUV100 and in the flagship of the house, the XUV 500.

The changes introduced in the Goa Plus are intended to update its image (case of the new front or alloy wheels), offer a more refined interior (with multifunction touch screen in the upper versions or climate control) and improve mechanical and dynamic performance ( with new suspension).

In total, 51 changes that affect all sections of the car, built on a traditional base to withstand all kinds of 'abuse' without losing load capacity: chassis of stringers and crossbars and rear suspension based on crossbows.

Always with a length of 5.15 meters, the Goa Pick up Plus is offered in a single or double cab version. The first one, approved for only two seats, admits objects 2.3 meters long in its bathtub and can carry 1,195 kilos in the case of the rear-wheel drive version. The extended cabin, for five passengers, has a free space at the rear of 1.49 meters and supports up to 1,095 kilos.

Both are powered by an improved 2.2-liter diesel block, more reliable than a small and tight one, with a horsepower of 140 horses and a huge 330 Nm torque between 1,600 and 2,800 revolutions per minute. Its average approved consumption is nine liters, with CO2 emissions of 239 grams per kilometer. Although rough, it is a block that arrives quite filtered inside and that gains in pleasure of use thanks to the new manual gearbox of six relations, only available and that is complemented with the reducer in the case of models with 4x4 traction. This, by the way, electronically connectable at speeds of up to 80 km / h, although not recommended for use on the road due to the wear and tear that transmission can suffer due to lack of a central differential.

The Goa Plus does have a rear differential and other driving aids in the field, such as the descent of slopes and, above all, the starting assistant on the slope. In addition, enjoy excellent off-road angles: 34 degrees of entry, 18 of the ventral and 15 degrees of exit.

With two finishes available (S6 and S10), prices range between 15,300 and 19,497 euros, excluding VAT but including the launch campaign that will be maintained for the first six months after the car reaches dealers in October. The warranty is three years or 100,000 kilometers, with roadside assistance included. As an option, another two years can be added. Metallic paint (370 euros) is another of the few extras that are offered, although as accessories you can order the roll bars in stainless aluminum, the tow ball, the protection for the loading area or a hard roof in fiberglass For that area.

Improvements in the KUV100 and the XUV 500

In the case of the KUV100, launched to our market a year ago, it is a model of only 3.7 meters long and five seats that has been improved with LED lights for the front pilots, alloy wheels or the possibility of Choose bicolor bodies. In addition, inside, it is new upholstery or multifunction screen that can be up to seven inches and touch. It is only sold with a three-cylinder petrol engine and 87 horsepower (five more than before), five-speed manual transmission and an average approved consumption of 6.5 liters.

The prices of this model start at 11,730 euros for the basic version, counted launch offer. As in the Goa Plus, the warranty is three years or 100,000 km, expandable for another two years.

Meanwhile, the XUV that was presented in 2012 as the brand's first global car, its aspirations are much higher since, although the quality of construction and interior are not up to European rivals or other Asians, it does have of quite reasonable and even luxurious contents, case of the multimedia system with screens in the head restraints of the higher version. Or the seven-inch screen with rear view camera and integrated browser. In addition, the exterior has been redesigned to give it a more sophisticated style.

The XUV 500 measures 4.58 meters and has three rows of seats, the third with two hidden seats on the floor of the trunk. It will be sold from the end of the year with a 140-horsepower diesel engine, rear-wheel drive or total and six-speed manual transmission. The minimum average consumption is 8.1 liters already in the WLTP cycle. There are four finishes, with prices starting at 22,508 euros and a five-year warranty.
