Swedish bike star Emilia Fahlin, who last year turned four at the World Cup's line race, crashed this spring during a training session in Spain. This resulted in a strong concussion, and she missed all competitions this summer.

But today she made a comeback. At the Grand Prix International d'Isbergues competition in France she finished in ninth place, twelve seconds after the victorious Dutch Christine Majerus.

"Better than I thought"

It was a comeback that Fahlin was happy with.

- It went better than I thought. I could sit right so far up when it was a bit hilly and do the job I would, she tells SVT Sport.

"Could have been worse"

However, there was some nervousness ahead of the race.

- I reflected a little on it yesterday, and thought, "Damn, now I'll compete!" You don't want to throw again, but you can't think so either. But having been away from the cluster for a long time makes you maybe a little stiffer on the bike than usual, she says, and continues:

- For me, it usually is not a problem to come up in the cluster, it is one of my strengths really. Obviously, it might not really feel as much at home on the bike as it has been for a long time, but it certainly could have been much better.

- I still felt relatively comfortable. Then it will probably feel better and better as well.

Not in the World Cup squad

The big question now is whether it will be a World Cup start, in the championship that started today in England? Fahlin was not included in the Swedish World Cup squad when it was presented, but Confederate captain Lucas Persson has opened up for Fahlin to be able to participate if it felt good in her comeback.

- I haven't talked to the union captain yet, but we would be heard tomorrow, so we'll probably make the decision then. But personally, I had thought it would have been fun to get as many competitions as possible, she says.

So if I'm going to interpret you correctly then shouldn't we be so surprised if it becomes a World Cup start?

- No, that's what I was aiming for if I were to go back. So that's the goal, and would be fun.
