Karin Torneklint's career as Swedish Confederate is about to end.

She tells Aftonbladet that there will be no continuation when her contract expires after the Olympics, the European Championships and Finnkampen next summer.

- No, it won't. I don't even think it would be good if I stayed. I think you need a person who can bring new energy and inspiration, ”she says.

World stars in the team

Then she will be able to look back on a federal career that has lasted longer than anyone else in Swedish athletics. And in recent years, Swedish athletics has been given a fresh start, with world stars such as Armand Duplantis and Daniel Ståhl.

- I probably haven't had any part in the two being so successful, but I can make sure they thrive every time they join the national team. And I am most proud of that. That we got a national team where everyone thrives and very many have a chance at final places, says Torneklint, who when she took over as the national team captain became the first woman on such a post in Europe.

And she hopes she inspired more women to invest in similar roles.

- Yes, I have at least shown that it works and goes and I hope that I inspire others to dare to take the chance. Because it is a fantastic job, she says.
