FC Groningen and Willem II have booked a victory in the Eredivisie on Saturday. The Groningers were in-house 2-0 too strong for PEC Zwolle and Willem II settled for their own public 1-0 with VVV-Venlo.
Groningen took the lead against PEC in the nineteenth minute. Ramon Pascal Lundqvist received the ball after a number of fine combinations in midfield and shot from the inside of the post from about a meter or 25.
Even then, Groningen remained the parent party and it was waiting for the 2-0. It fell in the 59th minute. Ajdin Hrustic was released on the edge of the penalty area and shot in control.
Reza Ghoochannejhad came on to PEC ten minutes after the break. The attacker wrote history last week as a substitute for his debut by scoring four times against RKC Waalwijk (6-2 win).
Groningen broke through with a negative series. The team of coach Danny Buijs did not win in the past four games, but rose to twelfth place through the three points against PEC.
PEC can be found in the ranking just behind Groningen, namely in thirteenth place. Both have seven points, but Groningen has played one game less and moreover a better goal difference.

Pavlidis matchwinner at Willem II
Willem II owed the VVV victory to a goal in the 22nd minute of Vangelis Pavlidis. One of the revelations of this season initially missed a penalty (rescue Thorsten Kirschbaum), but did make use of the rebound himself.
VVV still insisted quite well in the final phase, but really no big chances were created for a single moment (there was only one shot at the goal), which meant that there was no longer a result.
It was already for Pavlidis his sixth league goal of the season, with which he and PSV player Donyell Malen, who will be home to Ajax on Sunday, will be the top scorer of the Eredivisie.
Willem II rose by twelve points to fifth place, but coach Adrie Koster's team can be passed by AZ, FC Utrecht and Feyenoord later this weekend.
Despite the defeat with nine points, VVV remained the number eleven, but the team of coach Robert Maaskant has to fear that they will drop a few places in the ranking on Sunday.
