EM silver to Sweden in the team competition


Sweden clinched a silver when the team competition in the table tennis para-Euro was decided today. Anna-Carin Ahlquist, individual champion three days ago, fell in the decisive match against Serbia.

Just Ahlquist also lost the opening double match in pairs with Ingela Lundbäck against the Serbian duo Nada Matic and Borislava Peric-Rankovic in today's team final.

Then Ingela Lindbäck got to 1-1 in the final by winning 3-1 in set against Nada Matic and arranging a decisive match. It played Anna-Carin Ahlquist, who on Wednesday won individual European gold, against Borislava Peric-Rankovic.

There, Ahlquist dropped twice twice and picked up 2-2 before falling in the fifth deciding set. The set numbers were 11-9, 8-11, 8-11, 11-9, 7-11.

Sweden has also taken two bronze today, through Fabian Rignell and Tobias Andersson in men's class 8, and Alexander Öhgren / Victor Sjöqvist in men's class 3.

Later this afternoon, Daniel Gustafsson and Emil Andersson play final in men's class 9.
