Jenny Fransson lost the World Cup final
Jenny Fransson reached the final in the 68-kilos class after two nerve-wracking twists. In the finals of the wrestling World Cup, she failed to repeat the business and lost to Tamyra Mensah, USA by 8-2.
Jenny Fransson's road to the final was of the most dramatic kind. In the quarterfinals, during the final minute of the match, she turned a 1-5 sub to a 6-5 victory. The last three points came in the last two seconds.
The semi-finals were almost as nervous. Ukrainian reigning world champion Alla Cherkasova led 5-3 when the match clock ticked in at the last minute. Just as before on Thursday, Fransson accounted for an incredible final forced turn and turned to 9-7.
Already as she made her way to the semi-finals, the Olympic site was secured. In 2012, Fransson won the World Cup final in the 72-kilos class. In addition to this, she already has an EM gold, an EM bronze and a bronze money from the 2016 Olympics.
