Daniel Ståhl and Armand Duplantis are the two largest Swedish medalists at the Doha World Cup, which will start in nine days.

19-year-old Duplantis is world wide this year with his 5.95 he jumped this spring in American Fayetteville, while seven-year-old Ståhl is superior to the world in discus.

Barely three months ago, he struck with the longest throw in the world in eleven years when he threw away the disc 71.86 in Småland's Bottnaryd.

At the World Cup in Doha, there may be money rains over our Swedish stars.

33 year old record

Two sponsors have stepped in and pledged just under SEK 970,000 for the athletes who set the world record during the championship.

In the pole vault, the world record is at 6.16, which was set by Frenchman Renaud Lavillenie 2014.

In the discus we can go back all the way to 1986. Then German Jürgen Schult threw 74.08, a listing that still stands today.

For Daniel Ståhl, it is probably an extra carrot to make some money during the championship when now the discus is threatened to be removed from the money league Diamond League. By 2020, there will only be 24 branches in DLi instead of 32 as it is currently.

In addition to the generous efforts of the two sponsors, a World Cup gold in itself gives 580,000 SEK, a silver 290,000 and a bronze 190,000.

The Athletics World Cup in Doha runs from September 27 to October 6 and is broadcast on SVT's channels.
