PhD student Norwich City caused a stunt in the Premier League on Saturday by winning 3-2 against reigning champion Manchester City in a spectacular match. League-leader Liverpool remained clear thanks to a 3-1 win over Newcastle United.

Norwich City, where keeper Tim Krul again had a base place, was after a half hour on a 2-0 lead via goals from Kenny McLean and Todd Cantwell.

Just before half-time Sergio Agüero brought Manchester City to 2-1, but at the start of the second half, Norwich top scorer Teemu Pukki lifted the margin to two with his sixth season goal.

Rodri provided an exciting final phase with a 3-2 score in the 88th minute, but City was unable to avert a rare league-defeat.

It was the first loss to City in the Premier League since January 29 (2-1 against Newcastle United). Moreover, Norwich City is the first promoted club to win from a team coached by Josep Guardiola since April 2011.

Liverpool wins despite Willems hit

Willems gave Newcastle the lead in the seventh minute and thus made his first goal in the service of 'The Magpies'. The 22-time Oranje-international cut out his direct opponent and shot the ball beautifully in the top right corner.

Even before half time Liverpool turned the backlog through two goals from Sadio Mané into a lead and in the second half Mohamed Salah signed for the decision. The Egyptian completed a wonderful combination with Firmino.

Virgil van Dijk played the entire game at Liverpool and Georginio Wijnaldum was replaced six minutes before time. Willems filled the ninety minutes for Newcastle.

With the win, Liverpool is firmly in the lead with fifteen points in the Premier League. The lead on Manchester City is five points, but the number two will visit Norwich City later Saturday.

Own goal Van Aanholt with big win Tottenham

In London, Tottenham Hotspur easily dealt with Crystal Palace: 4-0. At rest the final score was already on the scoreboard. Patrick van Aanholt took care of the 2-0 halfway through the first half with his own goal.

Son Heung-Min scored twice on behalf of the 'Spurs' and Erik Lamela determined the final score. Van Aanholt played the entire game with the visitors, where Jaïro Riedewald remained on the bench.

Thanks to a hat trick by Tammy Abraham, Chelsea won 2-5 at Wolverhampton Wanderers. Fikayo Tomori and former Vitesse midfielder Mason Mount made the other hits for 'The Blues'. Abraham scored his own goal for the 'Wolves'.

Because of the victories, Tottenham and Chelsea are both on eight points from five games. Mauricio Pochettino's team occupies third place and the Europa League winner is sixth due to a lesser goal difference.
