Curaçao played a 1-1 draw against Haiti in a loaded duel in the night from Tuesday to Wednesday. The competition followed two days after the death of reserve keeper Jarzinho Pieter, who was only 31 years old.

The goalkeeper was already in Haiti with the team from Curaçao when he had a heart attack. According to local media, he went to bed because he was not feeling well and he did not wake up anymore.

During the game in the CONCACAF Nations League, which was preceded by a minute of silence, Curaçao trailed early, but ADO Den Haag's Elson Hooi equalized the score.

The goal led to emotional scenes. The players of Curaçao held up two shirts with a message and the name of Pieter on it.

In the night from Saturday to Sunday, both teams also met each other and then Curaçao won 1-0. The next international match for the formation of national coach Remko Bicentini will be against Panama in a month.
