The northernmost Champions League match ever played was not as Piteå had hoped.

Admittedly, the team was far from delicate. Already 20 seconds into the match, Madelen Janogy stepped into the penalty area and gave Julia Karlernäs a huge position, but was saved by a Bröndby defender.

Beautiful goal

And so it went on. Janogy was behind most of what Piteå created going forward, but he didn't want to - despite a number of good chances.

Instead, Bröndby made the only goal of the match, which was really delicious.

After a Piteå player dropped the ball, the former Linköping player Nicoline Sörensen got the ball. She advanced to and fro in the middle of the track, firing from about 20 feet a rocky shot that went towards the intersection - and bounced in through the bar. Bröndby thus scored on their first finish of the entire match, after 38 minutes.

Thus, Piteå is forced to win away in Denmark when the return is played on September 26.
