Homophobia should not stop matches in France

Football matches should be stopped when the audience shouts racist remarks, in the event of riots or other dangerous situations on the stands. However, not if the supporters express themselves homophobic. This is the opinion of the chairman of the French Football Association, Noël Le Graët, who has informed the judges of what is to come in the future.

"Racism and homophobia are not the same," says Le Graët, who goes against France's Sports Minister Roxana Maracineanu and many with her.

He has previously said that too many matches were temporarily halted after homophobic banners appeared on the stands.

However, Le Graët does not want to keep the homophobic banners but believes that it is the clubs' responsibility to ensure that they do not enter the stadiums.
