Jon Persson took a simple 3-0 victory against Liam Pitchford in the first single (11-6, 11-7, 13-11). Then Mattias Falck followed up with a win with a 3-1 set against Paul Drinkhall.

The debutant, 17-year-old Truls Möregårdh, who replaced injured Kristian Karlsson, took in the third single by Samuel Walker. Walker took home an even first set with 11-9.

In the second and third, Möregårdh showed high class and dominated the sets he won with the numbers 11-6. The trend kept himself in the fourth set of wonderful game understanding and technique from Möregårdh made him pull the longest straw even there, 11-9. Sweden to the European Championship semi-finals and at least one bronze medal secured.

- Truls has such a big game in itself, quick feet and good both offensively and defensively. He also reads the returns well, says SVT Sports expert commentator David Gustafsson.

In Saturday's semi-finals, either Austria or Portugal await.
