SVT has been broadcasting the finals series in ice hockey for many years. Now SVT's viewers will be able to follow the league from the premiere.

In SVT Play, a selected top match will be broadcast each week throughout the basic series, then another five games from the quarter and semi-finals will be added.

In addition, SVT will broadcast the entire finals series exclusively in both SVT Play and in linear TV.

- SVT Play is Sweden's largest play service and it feels really good, and of course, to strengthen the big sports offering there with SDHL, which is a league with fast growing interest, says SVT's sports manager Åsa Edlund Jönsson.

SDLH chief: "Important step"

Already on September 13, SVT will broadcast from the series premiere when the reigning champion team Luleå receives Modo at home.

- This feels really cool, of course. Above all, it is both basic series matches and end games that are broadcast, which is different from how it looked in the past. This is an important step in the right direction for women's hockey, ”says SDHL's commercial manager Angelica Lindeberg to SVT Sport.

- A lot starts on the sofa. As matches become more accessible, more people are exposed to hockey and hopefully find it interesting. That way we can reach more than those who already love hockey.

Strengthens investment in hockey

The acquisition of SDHL strengthens SVT's investment in Swedish ice hockey. SVT already broadcasts national championships and world championships with Tre Kronor, the Women's Crowns and the Junior Crowns. In addition, SVT broadcasts from the Champions Hockey League, Match of the Month from the NHL and the classic TV puck, a tournament which from this autumn will be a tournament for both boys and girls.

SVT Sport was named the best sports channel in the world in 2018 and is a world leader in equal sports coverage. In addition to SVT, Sportkanalen and C More will also broadcast from SDHL this coming season.
