Caster Semenya, a two-time gold medalist and three-time world champion in the 800-meter race, will be playing football following a long battle with the International Athletics Federation (IAAF) over her hyperandrogenism . The South African, deprived of 2019 World Championships because of the new rules of the IAAF, will soon play with a club in Johannesburg. The cross-racer, who started the football practice, recently indicated that she still hopes to continue her athletic career .

Caster Semenya has joined a football club and by any of them, since it is the Johannesburg JVW, which belongs to the captain of the South African national football team, Janine Van Wyk.

At the age of 28, Caster Semenya started to wear cleats and trained at the start of the week with his new team. However, she will not be able to play matches until 2020, because the registrations for the season were already closed.

The hyperandrogenic athlete was very grateful for this offer and the support of the team. She said she "can not wait for this new adventure to begin" and hopes to "contribute to the success of the club ".

Like Usain Bolt

Caster Semenyana had slipped into clues about her possible conversion last month, after learning she would be stranded at the Doha World Championships after the International Athletics Federation's (IAAF) victory in the Swiss courts.

She said she did not plan to retire, and talked about football or rugby to pursue her athletic career.

And choosing the round ball, the South African follows the same course as Usain Bolt. Hoping that his reconversion is less ephemeral: the Jamaican star sprint had to hang up after a few months.
