Serena Williams is ready for her tenth US Open final. She thus tangles the record in the number of wins Chris Evert set in the 1989 tournament.

- To be in the same club as Chrissy, anybody, is absolutely fantastic.

The American took a historic 101st victory by defeating Elina Svitlova by 6-3, 6-1.

- It's fantastic, I really enjoy this, says Williams.

In the final she can write double history. And maybe number 24 is the one she chases the most.

Hunting 102 and 24

If she wins the final on Saturday, she will be on the same number of Grand Slam titles as Margaret Court, and will be the most successful women in the tennis world. 37-year-old Williams has lost his last three Grand Slam finals. Something that has not happened before in her long successful career.

Played the US Open before Andreescu was born

Her opponent tomorrow will be Bianca Andreescu - a 19-year-old Canadian. A fun detail in this match setup is that Williams played his first US Open final in 1999, about nine months before Andreescu was born.

- If someone had told me a year ago that I would be here today, I would have replied "you are crazy," says 15-ranked Andreescu.

Final met three weeks ago

As recently as three weeks ago, Williams and Andreescu met in the final of the Rogers Cup in Toronto. A match that wasn't played before. Williams had to cancel with a back injury in sub-3-1 in the first set. Williams cried while Andreescu ran around the net cheering for the home crowd, over the tournament victory. Now they meet again.

- It's totally unreal. It is a dream come true to play against Serena in a US Open final.

It will be the fourth time for Serena Williams to take that 24th Grand Slam title, as well as becoming the most winning streak in US Open history.

The women's US Open final begins at 10pm on Saturday.
