After yesterday's victory against Turkey, Sweden needed "just" to win Poland today to go to the quarter-finals of the team European Championship.

But despite Sweden being ranked four places over Poland in the world rankings, and got off to a good start when Matilda Ekholom won the first match against Natalia Partyka, it did not go the way.

Loss despite three match balls

First, Linda Bergström lost 1–3 in set against Li Qian, and then Christina Källberg with the same numbers with Natalia Bajor.

Matilda Ekholm was then whipped to win against Li Qian, but despite three rescued match balls, it was a loss.

- I think she is a little disappointed that she did not get to a higher level, says SVT Sports expert David Gustafsson, who did not consider the loss to be a huge failure:

- I do not think it is a failure in that way, Poland is a good team, but I think they will be disappointed tonight.
