Over the weekend, the Emirates Jujitsu Federation organizes inaugural tours of two of the most important tournaments on the local scene: the President's Cup and the Mother of the Emirates in Abu Dhabi. There is a wide participation of jujitsu athletes of both sexes, from different weights and age groups.

The first round of the President's Cup will kick off tomorrow and will be held at the Mubadala Arena in Zayed Sports City in Abu Dhabi. The tournament hosts some of the most prominent Emirati talent to compete with the open belt system, in the youth (under 18) and men (over 18) categories.

The first round of the UAE Women's Jujitsu Championship will kick off tomorrow, and will be held at Mubarak Bin Mohammed Sports Hall in Abu Dhabi. The competitions will be in three categories for juniors (under 16), youth (under 18) and adults (over 18). More than 330 athletes from nine different clubs across the UAE will participate.

Yusuf Abdulla Al Batran, a member of the board of directors of the federation, said in a press statement: “There will be a wonderful representation of the athletes of both sexes, which is in line with the vision of the wise leadership in promoting the spread of this sport of noble values ​​in the country and abroad, and the efforts of the Emirates Jujitsu Federation in translating this vision. “Wise is a reality.”

He added: «These events are very important as it helps athletes to hone their skills at the local level, and thus better preparedness to represent the country on the regional and global arenas, and although we are at the beginning of the sports season, which is packed with many exciting and anticipated events, but we expect the emergence of honorable levels “These tournaments are an ideal opportunity for athletes and fans alike to learn more about the sport of jujitsu and gain their values ​​that reflect positively on the physical, mental and community levels.”

The opening rounds of the tournaments follow the first round of the Vice-President's Cup, which concluded recently, and saw the participation of more than 150 athletes from 13 clubs from across the country.

The second round of the two championships will be held on February 7 and 8, followed by the third round on March 13 and 14. A total of AED 600,000 in prize money for the President's Cup and AED 300,000 for the Mother of the Emirates championship have been awarded.
